Many feared dead as major cyclone Thane strikes India's southeastern coast

Cyclone “Thane” struck India's southeastern coast between Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu state and the territory of Pondicherry with high winds and tidal surges. At least 33 people have been killed and many villages have been evacuated. Power supplies have been cut.
