Many measles deaths reported in upper Sindh Province in Pakistan

A major outbreak of measles in different parts of upper Sindh Province, including Sukkur, Ghotki, Kandhkot, Thal and Tangwaniat, has caused 161 deaths in children in the last 30 days. According to reports, 5 children died in the last 24 hours. Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to the highly contagious measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
