The state of Mato Grosso do Sul illustrates the extent of the dengue fever problem throughout Brazil. With 1,279 new cases of dengue fever in just the past week, the total for the year has reached slightly more than 24,000 cases. A total of 57 municipalities have high levels of dengue fever.
