Mato Grosso do Sul in Brazil seriously affected by dengue fever

Many areas of Brazil have reported major outbreaks of dengue fever. Among the states, the state of Mato Grosso do Sul has been seriously affected by the spread of dengue fever. So far, 68 of 79 municipalities have reached epidemic levels of transmission with 32,500 infected people and 14 deaths.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
