In Oakland, California, large demonstrations are expected. Dockworkers will march to protest police brutality in Oakland. The march will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the foot of Adeline Street and head to Oakland’s Frank Ogawa Plaza. Today’s demonstration is expected to effectively shut down operations at the port.

Demonstrators calling for an end to deportation of immigrants and a path to citizenship will march in the South Bay area beginning at 15:00 (3:00 pm) at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and continue to San Jose City Hall. Another group will march from Oakland Port to Oakland City Hall.

At 12 noon, the group, Labor Against Police Terror will rally at Oscar Grant Plaza (14th and Broadway).

At 7:00 PM, an anti-capitalist rally and March will gather at Latham Square, at Broadway and Telegraph Ave.

Expect traffic and transit systems delays throughout the Bay Area. Other smaller rallies may take place. Organizers of events around the area are using the hashtag ShutItDown to announce events.
