Measles alert announced for Turkey

After measles vaccination campaigns reduced the number of measles cases per year to just 4 in 2005, there has been an increase over the past years to an average of about 1,000 reported cases per year nationwide.

Measles virus is present in almost every country, but travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
