Measles cases and outbreaks reported in Nigeria and Pakistan

Measles cases, deaths and outbreaks have been reported by the following countries:

Nigeria - 5 communities of Kaduna-South Local Government Area of Kaduna State have reported outbreaks of measles. The most affected areas include Barnawa, Kakuri, Tudun Wada, Kinkinau and Kaduna metropolis.

Pakistan - Punjab - 2,971 reported cases of measles since December 2012.

Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to the highly contagious measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
