Measles cases and outbreaks reported in various countries

Cases and outbreaks of measles are being reported by the following countries (localities):

• Russia (city of Nizhnevartovsk in Khanty-Mansi)
• UK (England) - sporadic cases in London, West Midlands, and South East, Eastern and East Midlands regions
• Australia (Victoria, Queensland) - sporadic cases in Melbourne and Whitsunday
• Solomon Islands - over 200 hundred cases mostly in Honiara Province

Outbreaks of measles can occur frequently anywhere in the world at any time. Unvaccinated travellers often spread the disease. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
