Measles deaths in Cabinda Province, Angola

During the current outbreak of measles in the northern province of Cabinda, there have been 26 deaths in children out of approximately 445 identified cases. The relatively high number of deaths may be due to malnourished children and reduced immunity. A vaccination campaign is underway to contain the spread of the disease.

Travellers to this region should be aware of the risk of exposure to measles and ensure that their childhood vaccinations are up-to-date.
