Measles - Geneva, Switzerland, Rhone-Alps, France (update)

An extensive outbreak of measles is underway in the Geneva/Rhone-Alps area with a total of 29 confirmed cases in Geneva and 1,300 new cases in the Rhone-Alps area in the past month alone. Although approximately 90% of the population has been vaccinated against measles, there are still enough unvaccinated persons to sustain an outbreak of this highly contagious disease.

Travllers to this area should be aware of the risk of exposure to measles and ensure that their childhood vaccinations are up-to-date.
