Measles in Europe (summary)

Approximately 95 percent of the 8,127 cases of measles reported in Europe the last 12 month period have been reported from only 6 countries. These are France, Germany, Italy, Romania, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to the highly contagious measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
