Measles in Nigeria and Egypt

In the past 10 months, 109 cases of measles with 5 deaths have been reported in Niger State. Most of the affected cases were children between 9 months to 5 years of age.

In Egypt, approximately 5,000 measles cases have occurred this year. A large scale immunization program is underway to control this disease.

Advice For Travellers

Outbreaks of measles can occur frequently anywhere in the world at any time. Complications from measles are more common in children younger than 5 years old and adults 20 years and older.
