Measles outbreak continues to expand in southern Alberta, Canada

The outbreak of measles in the South Zone of Alberta continues to expand since it began in mid-October. The outbreak may be caused by a traveller who visited the Netherlands.There are now 40 confirmed cases. Outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur frequently anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
