Measles outbreak in Moscow suburbs

So far this year, there has been a total of 136 cases of measles reported in the Mytishchi, Odintsovskom, Balashikhinsky, Istra, Resurrection, Lenin, Ramenskoye Schelkovskoy, Pushkin, Ljuberetsky, and Naro-Fominsk areas, and specifically in the adjacent Litkarino, Jubilee, Khimki, Dolgoprudnom, and Chekhov districts. This total represents and increase over the number of cases reported in the same time period last year. Both children and adults have been affected.

Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to the highly contagious measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
