Measles outbreak reported in Kursk region, Russia

There is an outbreak of measles in and around the town of Zheleznogorsk in the Kursk region. At least 78 children have been reported along with 9 adults. None of the cases had been vaccinated due to religious reasons. Outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur frequently anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
