Measles outbreaks reported in 2 regions in Russia

Three municipalities in the Chelyabinsk Region have reported outbreaks of measles. So far, there have been 55 reported cases. In Astrachan Oblast, there have been 64 cases registered since the beginning of the year. Outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur frequently anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
