Measles outbreaks reported in the Ohangwena Region, Namibia

Health officials in Namibia have confirmed an outbreak of measles in the Ohangwena Region bordering Angola. A total of 69 cases ave been reported, of which 10 have been confirmed. An immunization campaign is underway in this region. Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to the highly contagious measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
