Measles spreads in Swuitzerland

Health authorities have noted that the outbreak of measles that initially affected the western part of the country (Geneva) is spreading to eastern parts. The cantons of Aargau, Saint Gall, Thurgau, Zurich, Neuchatel and Ticino are recording a rapid increase in cases. Across the country, a total of 515 cases have been reported since the beginning of the year. Initially, Geneva reported 110 cases, Vaud 93, and Basel 57.

Travellers to Switzerland and Europe should be aware of the on-going outbreaks of measles in many countries. Travellers should ensure that their childhood vaccinations are up-to-date.
