Measles spreads to many states in USA

Cases and outbreaks of measles are being reported from 17 states and Washington, DC: Arizona, California, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington. With the exception of California, the cases are occurring sporadically. However, many of these cases, 103 cases (85 percent), were infected while visiting Disney World, an amusement park in California.

Outbreaks of measles can occur frequently anywhere in the world at any time. Unvaccinated travellers often spread the disease when they return to their countries. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
