Meningitis epidemic expanding in Guinea

Since January 2013, there have been 31 deaths due to meningitis along with nearly 300 cases. The first cases were detected in Mamou, but cases have also appeared in Conarky. As of today, only the Kindia region has not reported any cases. The most affected area is Upper Guinea. When outbreaks of meningitis are occurring, travellers can reduce the risk of exposure to meningitis by obtaining avaccination against meningitis prior to travelling in these countries.
