Meningitis outbreak reported in South Sudan

There have been reports of 2 deaths due to suspected meningitis and 9 additional suspected cases in Warrap State's Gogrial West and East counties. Travellers can reduce the risk of exposure to meningitis during the dry season (December to June) by obtaining a vaccination against meningitis prior to travelling to South Sudan, as well as other African countries in thesub-Saharan meningitis belt, e.g., The Gambia, Senegal, Mali,Burkina Faso, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Eritrea.
