Monsoon rains cause deadly flooding and mudslides in Sri Lanka

Monsoon rains have caused massive flooding and mudslides in Sri Lanka. At least 122 people have died, many are still missing, and nearly 500,000 people have been displaced.

Food, water and sanitation are major problems at this time. Sri Lanka’s Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has also issued evacuation notices to residents along the Kelani river, which flows through the capital, Colombo.
