Monsoon rains cause severe flooding in southern China

The monsoon rains of May, June and July bring thunderstorms and flash flooding and landslides. The rains have affected the southern provinces of Guizhou, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Guangdong and Fujian. In Guangdon, more than 8,000 people have been evacuated. In Guizhou province, 29,000 people were isolated following massive thunderstorms. Most recently,in Liuzhou city in Guangxi province, the Liujiang River overflowed its banks with dramatic force.
