More bombings in Baghdad, Iraq

The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for suicide bombings today that killed at least 23 people and left 68 injured. Two blasts occurred in the Shi’ite district of Bab al-Shargi. A third blast occurred in the Bab al-Muadham district.

The safety and security situation in all of Iraq is extremely unstable, and most countries advise against all travel to Iraq. If you are in Baghdad, avoid crowded areas, such as markets or mosques, particularly in Shia neighbourhoods. Avoid police stations, military posts, and areas frequented by foreigners. Be aware that secondary bombings sometimes occur to target security and medical workers.
