More cholera cases in Nairobi County, Kenya

Heavy rains and local flooding are blamed for the increase in cholera cases reported by Nairobi County. There have been at least 200 cases and 11 deaths so far, most of whom reside in slum areas that have poor hygiene and sewerage systems.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers to any area where cholera has been reported can reduce the risk of exposure to this infection by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
