More cholera in Tanzania and Kenya

A new outbreak of cholera involving 23 infected people has been reported in Ruvu village in the Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania.

In Kenya, cholera outbreaks have been reported in Wajir (4 deaths) and Nakuru Counties.

Advice

It is not difficult to minimize the risk of exposure to this disease. Travellers to any area where cholera should strictly observe all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
