More cholera outbreak in Nigeria

Another outbreak of cholera is occurring in Nigerias Kaduna State. In Zaria, there have been 9 deaths registered and at least 50 other people are being treated for the disease in various hospitals.

There are also suspected cases of cholera in the Mpape area of Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory. Laboratory samples are being tested.

Travellers to any area where cholera has been reported can reduce the risk of exposure to this infection by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
