More deaths due to yellow fever in Angola

The number of deaths caused by the current yellow fever outbreak near Luanda has increased to 10 deaths, out of the 100 cases (28 of whom have positive laboratory confirmation). While there are some supplies of yellow fever vaccine available to control this infection, health authorities are requesting more vaccine from international sources.

Advice For Travellers

Angola requires arriving travellers to provide proof of yellow fever vaccination. If a traveller is vaccinate 10 days prior to travelling, the risk of infection with this virus is essentially nil. In addition, travellers should take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
