The number of persons killed during the current civil unrest in Cameroon has risen from 8 to 17, as police continue to try to stop demonstrations in favour of independence by English-speaking regions. Businesses were shut in the regions’ main cities, Buea and Bamenda, where military helicopters circled overhead. Internet access has been blocked.
