More deaths in civil unrest in Cameroon

The number of persons killed during the current civil unrest in Cameroon has risen from 8 to 17, as police continue to try to stop demonstrations in favour of independence by English-speaking regions. Businesses were shut in the regions’ main cities, Buea and Bamenda, where military helicopters circled overhead. Internet access has been blocked.

Advice

Travellers should always exercise caution and avoid all public and political demonstrations since they may become violent without warning.
