More Japanese encephalitis in India

In the Lakhimpur Kheri district, a total of 8 people have been diagnosed with Japanese encephalitis and 1 of them has died. Most of the cases are children below 15 years of age.

Advice For Travellers

Travellers to areas where this virus is circulating can reduce their risk of exposure to Japanese encephalitis virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Vaccination against Japanese encephalitis is recommended, especially if visiting rural areas where rice is grown.
