Cases and outbreaks of pertussis (whooping cough) have been reported from multiple locations in the USA, including:

Oregon (Lake County); Nevada (Clark County); Washington State (Snohomish County, Yakima County); New York (Steuben County); Minnesota (Olmstead County, Isanti County); Kentucky (Madison County, Estill County)

Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of highly contagious pertussis (whooping cough) can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to this disease by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including pertussis, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
