More protests in Pristina, Kosovo

For the sixth time in about two months, members of the opposition in Pristina, Kosovo, released tear gas in parliament Monday to disrupt a budget vote. Outside the parliament, opposition supporters clashed with riot police.

The US Embassy in Pristina posted a notice that protests are scheduled for December 16 in Peja/Pec and December 17 in Malisheve/Malisevo.

Advice

Protests have been ongoing over the past three months over deals to improve relations with Serbia. Travellers should be aware of the political tensions in Kosovo and the possibility of ongoing protests in Pristina. To minimize safety risk, always avoid large public gatherings and demonstrations.
