More sporadic cases of malaria reported in Greece (update)

With the report of 5 new cases of malaria, the total number of malaria cases acquired in Greece itself has reached 16 cases reported from several different regions: East Attica, Laconia, Peloponnese, Xanthi, and Thessaly regions. While the risk to travellers is very low, especially in more urban settings, travellers to these regions can reduce their risk of exposure to malaria by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is not recommended at this time.
