More violence in northeastern India

Violence continued after a separatist group massacred as many as 76 people on 23 December in Assam, India. Police killed five people when a mob angered by the massacre broke curfew and surrounded a police station in Dhekiajuli in the Sonitpur district. In the Kokrajhar district, two Bodos were killed by villagers, and two other people were hacked to death in the Chirang district. Some houses and shops were set on fire, and another group blocked roads and a railway line.

A night curfew has been imposed in Kokrajhar, Chirang, Udalguri and Sonitpur.
