Mt. Sinabung in Northern Sumatra, Indonesia, erupts again

Mt. Sinabung, already on high alert status, emitted another powerful eruption of gas and hot ash that covered at least 3 kilometers down the mountain. The ash has disrupted activities such as markets in areas around the volcano, particularly in Berastagi, a popular tourist area about 30 kilometers from the volcano.

Advice For Travellers

Travellers should be aware of the warnings that the lava dome is very unstable with a huge massing of lava at the peak. Larger eruptions could occur at any time.
