Multiple outbreaks of dengue fever reported by various countries

Cases, deaths and outbreaks of dengue fever have been reported from the following countries:

• Cambodia
• India (Bangalore, Karnataka State; New Delhi)
• Philippines (Negros Oriental Province; Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental Province; Davao Region)
• Yemen (Hodeidah, Al Hudaydah Governorate)
• Ecuador
• Brazil (Ilheus, Itabuna)
• Mexico (Tamaulipas state)
• Dominican Republic (Santo Domingo)

Travellers to these areas can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and may not be reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community that are not reported.
