Multiple outbreaks of hand, foot and mouth disease in China

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) has caused many outbreaks across China this year. In Guangxi Zhuang, health officials have reported 4 deaths and more than 11 000 cases. Central Hunan province has reported increases in the number of cases with over 1000 cases reported over the past week. In Hong Kong, an outbreak has been reported in a kindergarten.

Travellers who are travelling with small children who are most susceptible to infection with this virus can decrease the risk of exposure to HFMD virus by frequent hand washing and maintaining careful personal hygiene.
