Myanmar (Burma) struggles with damage by deadly heavy monsoon rains

The government of Myanmar (Burma) has requested international aid to help with relief efforts. Unusually heavy monsoon rains have triggered flooding and landslides, killing 69 people last week.
Flood waters from the north are now flowing into the low-lying delta areas and river levels are becoming high.

Advice For Travellers

Travellers in, or planning to travel to, Burma should be aware that many areas are not accessible due to flood damage and blocked roads. The government has issued a flood warning for people living in the Ayeyarwady delta in Myanmar's southwest.
