Myanmar declares areas to be Natural Disaster Affected Areas

The regions of Chin, Magwe, Sagaing, and Rakhine in Myanmar have been declared “Natural Disaster Affected Areas” due to severe flooding. The regions of Karen and Irrawaddy have also been impacted by flooding. At least one million people have been affected by the worst natural disaster since Cycline Nargis in 2008.

Advice For Travellers

Be very cautious if travelling in these areas. Infrastructure is damaged. There is a risk of landslides. Evacuations efforts are ongoing. A low-pressure system will bring even more rain to already-flooded areas.
