Mystery disease in Mubende District, Uganda, turns out to be malaria (update)

An investigation into an outbreak of a “mystery” disease in Kisanda Village in Mubende District that resulted in 30 cases and 5 deaths has identified severe malaria as the cause. Travellers to this region can reduce their risk of exposure to malaria by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
