Natural Disaster - deadly floods hit Assam state as monsoon season begins

At least 27 people have been killed and hundreds of thousands have been isolated due to severe flooding of the Brahmaputra River brought on by monsoon rains. At least 2,000 villages in northeast India have been affected.

Travellers should exercise extreme caution and avoid travelling in flooded areas where essential services, including transportation, may be severely disrupted.
