New cases of cholera in Bujumbura, Burundi

At least 21 new cases of cholera have been reported in Bujumbura. One person has died. Caring for the ill patients is more difficult because of a strike by nurses. Travellers to this area can reduce the risk of exposure tocholera by strictly observing all food and water precautions. Ifgastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and watery diarrhoea) develop whilevisiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
