New outbreak of legionellosis (Legionnaire's Disease) reported in Chicago, USA

Three cases of Legionnaire's Disease have have been traced to the Marriott Hotel at 151 West Adams Street, in Chicago, Illinois. Travellers who stayed at this hotel recently and who develop respiratory symptoms should seek medical care as soon as possible. Transmission of legionellosis (Legionaires Disease) usually occurs following exposure to warm aerosolised water as the bacteria are inhaled through water droplets in water sprays or mists. Exposure can occur in or around hot tubs, showers, or from air conditioning systems in buildings with poorly maintained cooling towers.
