Number of cases of Legionnaire's Disease increase to 15; 3 die

Health authorities have reported a total of 15 cases of Legionnaires Disease (11 English and 4 Spanish) associated with the outbreak of this infection in the resort city of Calpe. All the cases stayed at the Diamante Beach Hotel. The remaining guests have been moved to other accommodations while the investigation into the cause continues. A total of 3 people have died.

Travellers who may have stayed at the implicated hotel and who develop respiratory symptoms during the next 1-2 weeks (the incubation period for legionellosis) should contact their physician immediately.
