Advice For Travellers

Because this virus causes a severe respiratory illness with a high death rate, scientists are monitoring it closely in case it begins to be spread easily among humans. So far, people have become infected only through close interaction with chickens that are infected with this virus. Although the risk for travellers is extremely low, travellers should avoid visiting live poultry markets where this virus and other bird flu viruses are often found.
