One million expected to attend Notting Hill Carnival 2015 in London

Up to a million people are expected to attend the Notting Hill Carnival in west London August 30-31.

Advice For Travellers

Allow extra time if travelling in the Notting Hill area. Have alternate routes planned.

For safety reasons some Tube and rail stations may close temporarily to prevent overcrowding. There will be major road closures around Notting Hill, Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Park on Sunday through the early morning of September 1.

The road closures will cover: Harrow Road in the north, Notting Hill Gate in the south, Clarendon Road in the west, Queensway in the east.

Expect slow moving traffic at: Edgware Road (A5), Harrow Road, Holland Park Avenue, Notting Hill Gate, Bayswater Road.

From early Sunday morning to 05:00 on September 1, buses in the event area will be diverted or will terminate earlier to avoid the road closures.
During these times, buses will start from the Prince of Wales on Harrow Road to the north of the carnival area. To the south of the carnival area, buses will start from Notting Hill Gate.

Affected bus routes include: 6, 7, 16, 18, 23, 27, 28, 31, 36, 46, 52, 70, 94, 98, 148,187, 220, 228, 274, 295, 316, 328, 332, 390, 414, 452, N7, N16, N18, N28, N31 N98 and N207.
