Ongoing demonstrations in Germany

In Germany, a right-wing movement, the “Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the Occident” (PEGIDA) has been holding weekly rallies in cities since October. In Dresden today, a record-breaking number of people, at least 18,000, rallied, which prompted counter demonstrations against discrimination. Anti-PEGIDA demonstrations drew at least 22,000 people in other cities, including Stuttgart, Berlin, Cologne, Muenster and Hamburg.
