Outbreak of cholera reported in city of Minova, South Kivu Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo

An outbreak of cholera in the city of Minova has resulted in 260 deaths since the beginning of this year. At least 350 people were diagnosed with this infection. Travellers to this area can reduce the risk of exposure to cholera by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
