Outbreak of food borne intoxication in Tobasco, Mexico

Health authorities have reported 871 cases of gastroenteritis due to E.coli and rotavirus. Six people have been hospitalized. The report does not indicate how many persons were infected with which germ.

Travellers in this area can reduce their risk of exposure to gastroenteritis (travellers diarrhea) by taking all necessary precautions to avoid consuming contaminated food and water. Avoid purchasing food and drink from street vendors.
