Pastries cause severe food poisoning in Nyagan, Russia

Investigation into an outbreak of gastroenteritis (food poisoning) involving 26 people, including 14 children, in Nyagan in the Khanty–Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Russia, has implicated the consumption of commercial pastries produced in a local bakery. Salmonella bacteria were found in 6 cases.

Travellers can reduce the risk of gastroenteritis (including travellers diarrhoae) by avoiding consumption of contaminated food. Inadequately prepared and refrigerated cream pastries often cause acute food poisoning.
